At Casa Myrna, we’ve been building our Youth Engagement and Prevention Program since 2016, starting with a partnership with Start Strong’s program from the Boston Public Health Commission. Our journey in prevention through education has been ongoing, marked by dedication and growth. Now, in partnership with Beat The Odds, we’re taking our mission to the digital realm with ‘Red Flags and Roses,’ a groundbreaking initiative designed to raise awareness about healthy relationships and prevent domestic and dating violence.
Our core approach is grounded in education and empowerment. Through our Peer Leader Program, young individuals assume leadership roles to educate their peers and the community about healthy relationships. These dynamic Peer Leaders work collaboratively with our program staff, facilitating workshops and activities that drive impactful education and awareness initiatives.
We believe that knowledge is the key to combating domestic violence, and we’re dedicated to creating safer communities. Our workshops focus on the five types of abuse, aiming to equip young people with the awareness and skills to identify, address, and prevent abusive situations. By promoting open dialogue and providing valuable insights, our workshops create a supportive environment where young people can learn about healthy relationships, consent, and personal boundaries.
Join us on this journey of awareness and prevention, and stay tuned for the release of ‘Red Flags and Roses’ in February 2024. Together, we’re building a future where every relationship is safe and healthy, and young people have the tools to stand up against domestic violence.
